What is it with the Eagles?

Yet another agonizing game. There’s 5 minutes left in the 3rd, Giants just scored to take the lead, and on first down, McNabb gets sacked. THROW THE BALL AWAY! You ran 20 yards towards the sideline, just throw it in the stands, instead of taking a 7 yard loss…

But you know what, if we had a couple wideouts that could get open, he wouldn’t have to scramble for his life on every play.

I know…let’s put together a game-plan that features Brian Westbrook. I know people say he gets his touches, but I’m talking about on critical downs especially.

At least Rocca’s looking good as a punter, though with all the experience he’s getting this year, he should be a freaking monster!

The good news - Detroit seems to be having its way with Dallas.

HOW ABOUT THAT! Second time Giant’s got first and goal on the Eagles and they held them. I wish the defense would hold them about 50 yards or so back, but any time you don’t give up a TD in the red zone, there’s a degree of success you can accept.

Is it me, or do our return men look slow as molasses?

B-West…what a runner! You just never know what is going to happen when he gets the ball. He just turned a sure stop into 10 yards. It’s so much fun to watch this guy…he has an effortless way, makes defenders stop in their tracks.

OK, Dallas is making a comeback…can’t be having that!

Start of the 4th…it’s 4th and Inches…going for it! Better be a QB sneak or B-West to the outside. YEAH!

UUUUGH! Can someone get open please?

Giants are driving and get a break from B. Jacobs. Thanks for fumbling…now let’s convert!

Detroit gets a break with a fumble by Jason Whitten…that’s a good thing too!

Well, Jason Avant got mugged, no call…ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

What’s worse, the Eagles losing or Dallas winning?

A Win is a Win…or is it?

I know…the Eagles won yesterday! I should be happy about that, but I’m not. They looked bad, and should be thanking the Redskins for letting them steal a win on the road. But sorry fellow Eagles fans, we are not a good team. I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose to Miami next week, and I certainly don’t have any expectations against New England.

Let’s examine some points…

  • McNabb did look a little better, in terms of his mobility. But for nine years I’ve watched this guy throw into the dirt on short passes. There’s no finesse, no soft touch at all. As John Madden said last week, no wonder he doesn’t get intercepted that much, he’s not throwing it well enough to give anyone a chance to catch it.
  • Where’s the D-line? Patterson had a decent game with 6 tackles. What happened to Trent Cole? Howard? Kearse? Those two talented free agents combined for 1 tackle and 2 assists…COMBINED!
  • Hey secondary!!!!!! James Thrash…JAMES THRASH!!!!! (I can’t even write about it)
  • The one bright spot is still B-West. Granted, you have to give some credit to the O-line, in particular Runyan and Andrews, but Westbrook can make a guy look silly. I’m not sure what that says about a team where one guy is the leading rusher and receiver, but give credit to this workhorse.

Logic would suggest that we should handle Miami, in all honesty, but you can’t go into that game with too much confidence. Look at the Saints-Rams this week. Any given Sunday…

What’s Going On In Sports?

Not to sound negative, but have you seen the headlines of the sports pages lately?

“Man who supplied pit bull to Vick pleads guilty”
“O.J. facing more charges in armed-robbery case”
“Lack of evidence to indict Bonds”

That’s just one list from one day. That’s not a sports feed, it’s a police blotter. What’s worse, we, as fans, pay a lot of money to watch these people.
